To some extent, all writers use constraints—genre, outlines, character sketches, length, grammar—but deliberately introducing a random vessel, frame, or other restriction can take our stories in surprising and interesting directions.

KT Wagner will provide a brief overview of her approach to using prompts and constraints to unlock her subconscious, break away from the patterns her brain defaults to, and take her writing in unpredictable directions. There will be a short, related, writing exercise (nothing too strenuous).
